Belgrave Lantern Parade . Saturday 19th June.
2010 Theme: Make it yours
This year we’re thinking about what the Belgrave Lantern Parade means to us.
Why are we celebrating the Winter Solstice in Belgrave in 2010? What does it mean to you? Why do you like participating? How do you like participating?
The Winter Solstice is when the sun is at its lowest point in the sky in the annual cycle and our days become longer. It’s the shortest day and the longest night. All over the world people come together in their communities to acknowledge this important moment, celebrating with festivals, food, music, rituals, costumes, arts and more.
Come and express yourself with your lanterns, your outfits, with your community group, with your sense of creativity and your festive spirit.
What does the winter solstice mean to us? Make it yours.

Visiting studios you can find out about classes and workshops that the artist might be running, order commisions, create opportunities for art within your business, and find possible collaborations. It's an exciting weekend where loads of conversations and connections are made. Visitors find it a rich experience, seeing an artist in their studio breathes a magical layer to the story of their work.

Times are changing. Burrinja, my studio home, for the last year has recently downsized for a period of 18 months. They are developing the centre and adding on a big Performing Arts Centre, which means a 400 seat theatre. To do this the lovely artists had to move out and they closed down the Multi-Purpose Room, the Performance Space, the Jarmbi Gallery and part of the Burrinja Gallery. It's all for a good cause, the new facilities are going to be so much fun. I've now set up studio in my Belgrave home and am looking forward to artful collaborations with the community in 2010.
